Attorney Carol A. Felicetta Presents Credit Abuse Resistance Education Program (CARE) to LEAP Counselors in New Haven on March 23rd

March 30, 2007

Felicettac-3 Hartford, CT, March 30, 2007 - The New Haven County Bar Association’s Public Service Committee recently requested Bankruptcy Committee Co-Chair Carol Felicetta, to educate counselors at LEAP (Leadership Education and Athletics in Partnership) in New Haven on the Bankruptcy Committee’s C.A.R.E project - Credit Abuse Resistance Education. The program took place on Friday, March 23, 2007 at LEAP headquarters, 31 Jefferson St., New Haven. Ms. Felicetta is an attorney in Reid and Riege’s New Haven office on 195 Church Street.

The C.A.R.E. Project is a community outreach project created by Honorable John C. Ninfo, a Rochester, NY bankruptcy judge, which partners with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and U.S. Trustees. The C.A.R.E. project involves volunteer attorneys who speak to area junior and senior high school students, among other audiences, about credit cards, credit, and understanding basic finances.  “The bankruptcy cases I encounter every day as a practicing lawyer serve as a constant reminder that CARE’s mission is an important one and I am proud to be a part of such an organization,” said Carol A. Felicetta, associate attorney at Reid and Riege.  The NHCBA launched its version of C.A.R.E. three years ago in collaboration with the Hartford County Bar Association, and it continues to expand within local high schools.

LEAP is a non-profit organization that provides year-round academic and social enhancement programming for youth from the ages of 7 to 23 from high poverty neighborhoods. Its mission is to develop the strengths and talents of young leaders. The Public Service Committee plans to expand its programs at LEAP by incorporating SAT preparation, support with college applications, essays, interviews, resumes and cover letters.

The New Haven County Bar Association is a professional organization dedicated to supporting and educating its membership of nearly 1,500 attorneys, judges and other legal paraprofessionals, and providing community programs and services to the Greater New Haven area.
